The Supreme Court postpones challenge against Governorates Councils law

 

The Federal Supreme Court held its session on April 29, 2021, and heard a lawsuit challenging  Governorates Councils law and decided to postpone it until next month.

"The court heard a case concerning the lawsuit to judge that several articles of the Law (Third Amendment of the Governorates Incorporated into a region law) amended No. 21 of 2008 were unconstitutional," the Federal Supreme Court said in a statement.

"The Plaintiff in his case is litigating the speaker of the Iraqi Council of Representatives/ being in this capacity" the statement clarified.

The statement added "After reviewing the proceedings, the court decided to postpone it until

the 2nd of next month for the purpose of scrutiny.
