The Federal Supreme Court commented on the upcoming parliamentary elections after deciding on Commission Law No. 7/Federal/2020.

"The integrity of the electoral process is the responsibility of all federal authorities by providing them with all constitutional and legal guarantees, including compliance with the deadlines for holding national elections, and this is the cornerstone of citizen confidence in the electoral process," the court said in the decision.

"The Independent High Electoral Commission, with its independence and impartiality and in cooperation with the federal authorities, must work for the participation of all in the elections by raising the electoral awareness of the citizen and considering it a national duty for the people to exercise their political rights in accordance with article 20 of the Constitution," the decision said.

"The reform of the political process in Iraq and the realization of the principle of peaceful transfer of power are carried out through the participation of all in the elections, preventing the illegal use of political money in elections and preventing the use of all illegal methods to influence its results to ensure high credibility and clear integrity of the electoral process, and that is the duty of the federal authorities and the Independent High Electoral Commission," the decision said.
