The President of the Federal Supreme Court visits the President of the Integrity Commission

The President of the Federal Supreme Court, Judge Jassim Mohammed Abood, visited the President of the Integrity Commission, Judge Haider Hanoun, at the Commission's headquarters on Tuesday, 17/1/2023. 

The Integrity Commission mentioned in a statement that "the head of the Federal Integrity Commission, Judge Haider Hanoun, received at the headquarters of the Commission, on Tuesday, the President of the Federal Supreme Court, Judge Jassim Muhammad Abboud, and discussed issues of integrity, preservation of public money and the rule of the constitution and law."

The President of the Federal Court, Judge Jassim Mohammed Abboud, stressed the need to cleanse state institutions of "desecrating the scourge of corruption and its scourge", while the head of the Integrity Commission, Judge Haider Hanoun, considered that the political atmosphere and the formation of the new government "is an occasion to start real steps to combat corruption".

The President of the Federal Supreme Court, according to the statement, that "the duty of independent bodies to work on the rule of law and the protection of the wealth of the people and national unity, and that the people want one unified Iraq in which the spirit of the constitution and law prevails," pointing out that "Iraq has human energies and economic wealth and can rise and build strong and sober institutions that take the country to the path of reconstruction and development."

He stressed "purifying state institutions from the defilement of the scourge of corruption and its scourge," calling for "the selection of administrative leaders in various state institutions according to specifications of professionalism, sincerity and high national spirit, and a sense of the size and burdens of heavy national responsibility while carrying out this task, on which the people and the country rely on to restore public confidence in state institutions."

He stressed, "the need for organized work and coordination between regulatory agencies; to reap the fruits of these strenuous efforts," explaining that "corruption is divided into two parts, large corruption and small corruption," pointing out that "small corruption greatly affected the citizen's confidence in the public employee after he provides a public service, while major corruption he described as a very great danger and fighting it requires political, economic and social strategies, as it contributed significantly to obstructing state-building and hindering investment and reconstruction processes."

For his part, the head of the Integrity Commission, Judge Haider Hanoun, praised "the importance of the Federal Supreme Court and the roles it plays in preserving the democratic system by monitoring the constitutionality of laws and regulations in force, interpreting the provisions of the constitution, and adjudicating cases arising from the application of federal laws," praising "the role of the judiciary, under whose supervision the Commission's investigators work, and the great cooperation and coordination with the Commission," stressing that "the continuation of this cooperation and coordination is enough to raise the levels of anti-corruption."

He added, "The political atmosphere and the formation of the new government are an occasion to start real steps to combat corruption, especially since the government's approach has made combating corruption and stopping the waste of public money one of its priorities by building effective tools to combat it and put an end to it," pointing out that "the Commission is working to educate the people about the seriousness of this scourge and the need for everyone to join hands in confronting it and prosecuting its perpetrators," reiterating that "the Commission's work is following the laws in force, with great diligence and precaution in dealing with the accused during the investigation." with them and respect for human rights."
