President of the Federal Supreme Court: The importance of constitutional independence

      The President of the Federal Supreme Court, Judge Jassim Mohammed Aboud Al-Omairi, explained that the constitutional judiciary is the constitutional institution that works to achieve justice and preserve human rights.

A statement by the court said that "the President of the Federal Supreme Court, Judge Jassim Mohammed Aboud Al-Omairi, participated with a member of the Federal Court, in the Conference of Arab Constitutional Councils and Courts held in the Arab Republic of Egypt," announcing "the desire of the countries participating in the conference and their readiness to meet in Baghdad."

Al-Omairi explained that "the constitutional judiciary is the most important tool of the state in safeguarding human rights, and standing in front of the means of violence and arbitrariness that can be used against freedoms."

He added that "in the face of the power of the state and the authority of the legislative and executive authorities, the role of the constitutional judiciary emerges, to prevent violations of human rights by the legislative and executive authorities, in a way that confirms the consolidation of justice and support for the principle of separation of powers."

Al-Omairi stressed that "the goal of the conference is what human society in general aspires to at the present time, where the emergence of the judiciary in which the individual enjoys freedom of speech and belief and is liberated from the influence of the ruling regimes," pointing to "the readiness of the Iraqi side to deal with all Arab countries, within the Union of Constitutional Councils and cooperation with global and regional constitutional unions."
