Meeting of the President and Members of the Federal Supreme Court with the President of the Republic

The President of the Federal Supreme Court, Judge Jassim Mohammed Abboud, and the judges members of the Federal Supreme Court met with His Excellency the President of the Republic, Dr. Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, at the invitation of the President of the Republic, on Monday 31/7/2023 at Baghdad Palace.
During the meeting, the President of the Federal Supreme Court stressed the independence of the judiciary in general and the constitutional judiciary embodied in the Federal Supreme Court in particular.
The President of the Federal Supreme Court touched on the fact that Iraq is the home of messages and prophets and the resting place of the pure imams and that Iraqis can overcome difficult circumstances and build a modern civil state based on citizenship, considering that Iraq is the cradle of civilization and that the first era to build the policy of homelands was enacted on the land of Iraq, and the first law was legislated, and the Iraqis, despite the difficult circumstances they went through, were able to draw inspiration from the higher values of the messages of heaven and embody this in the legislation of the constitution. Iraqi for the year 2005, which is one of the most important constitutional documents in the Middle East, which organized the building of a pluralistic democratic political system based on equality between citizens before the judiciary and the participation of all in the administration of the country, and the exercise of their rights to vote, elect and nominate, without discrimination or exclusion, and the need to adopt a national strategy for state-building based on what the citizen offers to his country, and called for the need to fight financial and administrative corruption and follow all means for the Iraqi people to enjoy all their rights, as the Iraqi people have very high human and moral values and ideals and that the phenomenon of corruption is not one of its values and principles, which facilitates the process of eliminating it, and called for the need to preserve the independence of the judiciary and build democratic institutions on the foundations and fixed rules.
It stressed the need to respect, protect and activate the provisions of the Constitution in a way that ensures the peaceful transfer of power, respect for rights and freedoms, and the need to activate the role of all state institutions in confronting and combating corruption and putting an end to the citizen's suffering from poor services.
They also reviewed some important draft laws prepared by the Presidency of the Republic and discussed the reason for their preparation.
During the meeting, it was stressed to deepen the frameworks of cooperation between the two parties to achieve the public interest in the state of institutions, and the Presidency of the Republic affirmed its full readiness to support the judiciary and the constitutional judiciary in the Republic of Iraq.
